It’s hard to look back at your parents and see them as human beings. When the veil drops and they are no longer the unstoppable force you loved and feared, the awe is replaced with reality and you are faced with a mortal just like you. Two words came to mind when I met my mother as a mortal for the first time: Sacrifice and love. She and I have gone to war together and we have gotten through it. Today, we continue to fight our battles together… The only difference is I now understand her a little better and I appreciate her even more for it.
